    Gearbox Id Number

This is on my gearbox in 59 Series II. I am about to pull out for rebuild. What do these number and suffix E tell about this gearbox? Could this be original, or is from a newer Land Rover?

Later model, suff. E. More desireable than the suff. A,B,C boxes because of some upgraded internals, mostly layshaft related. Worth rebuilding IMO

That should be a full synchro box, yes?

Not necessarily. The IIa crash boxes went to suff. E, maybe even F if I remember right. The box I'm currently running is a IIa E box.
