Rear main seal R&R on a 2.25 diesel?

Any guestimate on labor hours to remove and replace?

Is this a 6 hours with a buddy and 24 pack type task or a "don't try this at home kids" type task?

If the former Guinness or Strongbow?

You must remove the crankshaft to replace the rear seal on a 2.25 diesel.

You'll need to take the engine out, turn it upside down on an engine stand.
Be careful with the new seal (best to replace both halves of the seal retainer also). With care you can be successful, though many folks take 2 or 3 attemps to get it so it does not leak to the same extent as before the repair was effected.
