    Solihull Sally turns 50

Solihull Sally, my Series IIA, 109", Station Wagon, with 44K miles on the clock, turned 50 on March 14, when she was purchased by the original owner in 1962.
    Many happy returns old girl!

Congratulations. It's just about unused at an average of 880 miles a year. That's about three and a half weeks of driving for a few of us.

Happy Birthday Solihull Sally from another 109 celebrating a birthday in March!

I have no idea when the Green Rover was built or was first sold, but I purchased her in March so I declared her birthday to be in March. She is now 52 years old and I have owned her for 34 of those years. I have no idea of what her total mileage is but she was totally worn out from lots of use when I bought her and towed her home. I haven't had a speedo cable on her for decades but she has traveled a lot during those years, often on multi month trips.

Enjoy your truck. These old 109s need a treat of some kind. Something well beyond the new front turn signal socket I installed today. Maybe another run out into the reservation to see the sights. Monument Valley is only 3-1/2 hours away.

          Series rigs forever!

                Incidentally

The spare mounted on Sally's bonnet, a Dunlop Trakgrip, originally supplied when she was purchased, was never used until after I bought her about 7 years ago and then, perhaps once or twice (in 5K miles), since. It's pretty much dried-out but with a tube is still serviceable. Maybe I'll replace it with another Mud-Terrain as a treat for her birthday, after all.
