    Indicator help

Guys: My Series IIa has the indicator pictured below. The flashers on the outside do not work - keep reading:
    1. Bulbs are OK (they work, see below)
    2. Hazards work, I turn them on and get the flashers to light up and flash fine
    3. The stalk bulb for orange in the middle lights up
    4. The stalk bulb for right indicator lights up when the arm is moved
    5. The stalk bulb for left indicator lights up sporadically

The left indicator does work SOMETIMES, I can't figure out what makes it work - but the stalk light (green) won't work yet I hear the "clicking" noise and the flasher is working - SOMETIMES

The right indicator never works with the arm

The housing pictured below is clamped on to the steering column and is easily taken off, but on first inspection it seems like it can not be taken apart????

    ANY HELP PLEASE!!!

You are probably aware that this is not the original indicator: Based on your comments, I think that this guy is broken on the (inaccessible) inside. You might want to look for a good used Tex-Magnalite unit (the original equipment). They are around and can be opened up and serviced.

What you have here is a cheap, generic Auto Parts Store turn signal switch. These have been around for years and are usually used on: farm trucks, tractors, postal jeeps, and anything not having a factory switch. So, look around for a Land Rover Switch or at least a higher quality Generic one.

Not a bad price on either of these either.
