Tire mounting - drivers side tub - pictures/info

Anyone have a picture of a right side interior-tub mounted tire and the fixings? I have a mount on the hood, but the 235/85 16 wheel and tire combo will require much longer bolts than the supplied 3 1/2 " long 1/2" BSF. Besides that, the view is obscured. I saw a 109 running around town yesterday ( a sweet blue with tan top, RHD ) with the tire mounted behind the driver. I have the cut-out there, it has a plate riveted over it, but no securing hardware.

Am I right to assume that there is no 'pan' that the wheel would sit in?

    regards,
    Paul

My 88" has mounts on the hood, rear door, and center-rear, never seen a side mount before.

Not a very good pic, but:

There is a pan that the tire sits in, and a threaded rod and wing nut that holds it in place. I'll try to get you a better pic a little later.

Before you gather parts, check that your 235/85R16 will fit inside that "pan." They're pretty narrow. I think the recess is the correct width for a 7.5 x 16 tire. If nobody can definitively confirm this in the next few days, I'll drag the spare off the hood and try to cram it into the "pan" on my 109 to verify this.

Are those mounting spots just on 109s?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Maybe I should just try and source longer bolts for the hood. The 'pan' is not there, nor the hardware to secure the wheel. Our host does not list the pan or the bracket, they do have the smaller bits listed.

I think so, as my old 88 didn't have them, it may just be the pick-up body that has them, in which case they may be present in the 88 model if it was a pick-up from the factory, but I can't confirm this.
