    Ignition Timing

    In the green bible when they refer to refitting the distributor 86.35.20, Step #8 rotating the crankshaft until No. 1 piston....offset the slot in the distributor drive gear to the position shown....are they referring to the drive adapter or the main big gear below the adapter to be in that position?

    I have the main big gear out (which i believe to be the drive gear) and I am trying to line it up as the illustration in the green bible shows. But how do I get it to mate up with gear on the cam shaft without it turning?
