Filler neck extension tube - chain?

The big green book does a great job of showing the fuel cap tethered to the filler neck extension. I did notice when I removed the filler neck that there is a chain remnant on the neck, AND a place to hook it to on the extension. The green book does not reference that section.

Did the extension get chained to the filler neck? If so, I'd guess the extension could be removed and would hang a few inches out of the way?, should you need to get a large fuel hose down the hatch.

    Thoughts?

Yep. The parts book shows it just like you have it.

Clint, I see my parts book does not show that "neck to extension" chain either. Now that I look at my 88, its missing that chain too.

I guess were saying the fixings are there for a chain, but it was not there originally?

At one time, mine were chained, and now they are not.

Should be chained, but often the chain is missing.

Great...just looking for this confirmation. The books were a bit unclear. I have found a close match of some single jack chain here locally. I'll soon have some chained up fuel parts.

              Thanks all!
