Thanks in part to this thread, I got my tailgate mostly mounted today. The one big mistake I made was instead of replacing my blank end caps with the ones with antiluce catch holes already drilled, I made a paper template off the replacement plate, marked and drilled (and filed my ass off). I thought I was on the money. Turns out I was way off. One side needed to go up, the other side needed to go down. Eff. So I decided to unbolt the catches and hold them in place so that they threaded the tailgate eyes just perfectly, marked the spots and made new holes. The damage isn't so bad, but still. Let this be a reminder to us all; measure twice, cut once. Also, never trust a repop. Also also, old things, man, old things.
