    Driveline?

Do you mean driveshaft or in British terms, propshaft?

Some slack is ok. Some more is not.

You need to be more specific.

sitting in neutral I can turn short driveshaft about 1 inch back and forth. I cannot turn the long driveshaft at all..

Doesn't sound a lot to me.
Do you get a vibration through the floor?
When you are in 4WD Low, is there a noticeable clunk when you go from stop to move?
Is there a noticeable backlash when you accelerate/decelerate?
Do you have manual locking hubs on the front?
Is there play in the UJs?
When you last changed front diff oil, were there metal fragments in the oil?
Does the front diff whine when you are driving?

Is the reason you cannot revolve the rear prop shaft because you have the hand brake on?

Is the play in the front prop shaft still noticeable when you are in gear?

AS soon as I get the radiator back in I will check for all the above. Thank you for your input..not many of these around me...in fact none....will be back..

The following do not require a radiator:

Do you have manual locking hubs on the front?
Is there play in the UJs?
When you last changed front diff oil, were there metal fragments in the oil?

OK. Sounds likes nothing is wrong, so far.

It will jerk a bit if you start off in low, first gear. I normally start off in 2nd or 3rd when in low range.

I'd bet a nickel the u-joints are toast. I have a 109 and this is the first LR I've ever owned but I've had alot of old trucks. The joints are always neglected.
Hope you are stubborn and determined.
