getting the temp. sending unit off of the front of the engine without having to take off the water pump to get to it. Anyone done this before? Looks like a lengthy job to gain access to it and I have to do it on two 2.25 engines.

crowsfoot = open-end wrench (stub) w/ square-hole for a ratchet/extension bar.
I was able to install my capilary temp sensor (plus the adaptor) with the t-stat and water pump in situ. IIRC, it was possible using open-ended and adjustable wrenches. You only get a fraction of a turn before resetting the wrench, but this is after it was already finger tight. Final tightening was a wrench-on-a-wrench (if you know what I mean...).
