1970 IIA, square hole on inside drivers fender

    Hi,

I've got a square hole on my inside drivers fender, right next to the accelerator links and the oil dip. I have seen other restorations with what looks to be a heat shield or something mounted...like in this photo...what is it?

I think that just covers up the hole that the 2.25 diesel exhaust exits through.

Yes that is the exhaust outlet for the 2.6 inline six engine.
