series 3 rear horse shoe tie downs

hello all, hope you can help. i've been scouring series 3 photo's, diagrams and more and just can't seem to find the proper location to mount my rear, horse shoe shaped tie downs for the canvas top on my 74 88". i've been told 3 different locations from three different sources now... 1) on the rear top rail, 2) on the body below the rear top rail and upside down (prongs facing down) and 3) on the panel that the tail lights are on. i'd like to mount these in the proper place... anyone have the location or a pic that shows the proper location for these?

    thx!
    john

the tub looks the same. as you can see mine are welded on and facing down (actually you can't see cuz my lines in the way)but i would think as the pull of the line will be upward i'd mount yours with the screw end or open end down

I can't say whether mine are located correctly, I just copied what was on my old '62 that was a factory soft top. That one came from Ethiopia.
I have always seen the loop facing down, but have seen it mounted higher up on the tub on some trucks. Only thing that bothers me about that is the top chaifs on it.

thanks all for your input and photo's. it's interesting how this particular item has so much variability as to where it could/should be mounted... i'll post pics of mine when i finally decide on where to poke these holes!
