New Member - New Series III

I am a new member to the site, but have read for some time and been a subscriber the magazine for a while.

Anyway, I currently have a 93' LWB Classic, but have lusted after a Series Rover for a long time. I looked online state side for a while and never really saw what I wanted. Anyway, I started looking overseas and the quantity of Rovers to pick from increased exponentially. After I got over the shear terror of purchasing a Rover overseas (not sure I am actually over it) I decided to pull the trigger.

The seller in the UK has been absoultley great to work with and the shipping company I have selected has been great as well. We are waiting on the new V5 to come from the DVLA next week and are swapping out tires and then it's on the boat. Hopefully I will be driving to Charleston, SC in a few weeks to pick this baby up.

    It's a 1984 Series 3, 88".

    Some pictures:

I know that I will have tons of questions, so I look forward to posting on the site. I also look forward to the possibility of meeting some other owners in the area and getting this thing dirty.

It's nice but before you write them that final check I would have them install the split glass in the windshield. One piecing it on a Series just looks all wrong. Might as well go one step further and have them put the heated glass in it. It's only another 160 UKP.

Agreed, near double the cost this side of the pond. Can you bring one back for me

                      Contractor,

That's a great rover. I also have the exact model as you. 84, SWB, S3, RHD, GREEN. Mine also came from across the pond from LandRover Center and only had 43,000 miles on it. You're going to be very happy with it! Mine was a soft top but I just now got my hands on a tropical top I'm restoring. I've only had mine for maybe a year now and it's my daily driver... so much to learn and so much fun. I finally just put on a new set of tires yesterday ad the ones that came with mine were the originals and can't even get them over here.

Very nice! My Series also came from the Land Rover Centre. Mark is a great guy. I would drive this Series everyday, just trying to keep the miles down. I drive a D2 as a daily driver. Enjoy and we should stay in touch.
                          Cheers,
                          Derek
