    Show us your Brush Guard

    Custom or "off the shelf".

i am trying to figure out if I want to add a brush guard to my '73 109 5-door. Googling the request does return any useful ideas. A winch will be going in and possibly a few aux lights.

Have folks used the D-90/110 guards and or bumpers on series trucks?

    Let's see what you have.

    here is one

Dave: One was on mine when I found it. But it was not in good shape, so I found another one very similar. I too am "pondering" putting it on. It comes on/off easily as it can be bolt mounted - but the effectiveness of a bolt mounted one is quickly called out! Welding it on is actually the best means I am sure. Anyway here are some pics. You can see many trucks with them, and many more without....just google series trucks and peruse the pics.

The effectiveness of any type of brush guard is quickly called out when mounted on the very fronts of 50 year old crusty frame horns. Shopping Cart / door ding protector at best.

I've always liked the brownchurch "Camel Trophy" brush guard on Defenders, and for a more modern look that works on D's but might not work as well on Series trucks, the rockware bumpers.

Australian trucks tend to have these things more often, might help your search..

call me a rivet counter, but my opinion is to keep big mall cruiser brush guards away from series rigs.

I have never seen an attractive brush bar on a series truck. The recessed grill and headlights always makes it look a bit funny. Understand the utility if you can make it strong enough but can't get over the appearance.

That looks fine because your breakfast is just behind the brush bar. Kind of like a Defender which looks just fine. My problem is with the Series trucks which have the breakfast set back. Particularly the 2 and some 2a where the lights are in the breakfast not the wings

This is a modified Defender bar on my SIII (I hope the pic comes across...). I've since added lights to it and reenforcing to the uprights.

Ahh, but yours is disqualified from the "unattractive" declaration because your radiator support is flush with the front of the wings.

EDIT: Somehow I missed the earlier, similar reply.

Thought you guys might say that, so I came prepared :P

I think these look really smart.

And this is the same brush guard as mine, more or less...

Maybe I am coming around. The winch helps.
I haven't seen fenders like this before. Sort of lightweight'esque, a half breed between a 2a and a lightweight. What's its story?

I like this look. The flat-sided bars work with the series.
Should be pretty easy to fab something like this.

Fenders are Australian Military fenders which are cut out so there is less 'fender' to fill up with mud.

Yup, the flat bar kind are my favorite. Will be doing that style when I build my new bumper

I'm minimally familiar with military versions. Whats the rationale for the exhaust in the front?
