I just bought a Series III Diesel 2.25 vehicle originally built in Feb 1973. The engine block number is 314xxx......F, which I think suggests it is from a petrol FC engine. The red valve cover has a mercruiser tag on it. It runs fine but I am about to remove the sump to look at the crankshaft. Does this engine block number mean anything and is there anything I should be looking for to understand this setup?
