    rock slider questions

    Hi all,

Any one have them on a series vehicle and used them? Are they bolted on or welded? 88 or 109? Did they flex/ move, dent the body work? Pics of damage?
Not trying to determine if useful just best practice to attach.

    Thanks,
    gene

Attach them to the outriggers of the frame, bulkhead support, and tank supports. This is a set I made for a 109, basically a copy of what Ike Goss used to make.

Nice looking sliders - do you have drawings or prints that could be used to FAB them? I am going to make a set for my 109 and not having to field measure the attachements would be great.

          Hi Austin,
No prints, sorry. They are made out of 2x4 boxed steel. The easiest thing to do is make the slider body itself then come up with a way to hold them under the sill, make your angle iron brackets and tack them in place. I used simple scissor jacks with brackets welded on top to hold the slider bodies in place.........they (the sliders) are very heavy and this is a nice way to micro-adjust them before welding brackets on.

Nice project. Did you copy the mounting positions from Ike as well?

I did copy the mounting positions from an older set of sliders that Ike had made for me. And as info., I did ask Ike, actually pleaded with him to build a set of sliders for this 109 because I just didn't have the time to do it, but he's just too busy with other parts of the business, so I think he's ok with my one-off plagiarism. I can also say that there's no way any money was being made on these things for what Ike was selling them for back in the day........they were a deal!

Yes I know, but the cost of freight to here, well... they may as well be made of gold.

I have built a home made set as well. They are very close to Ike's design.

I have banged the heck out of mine on rocks and such and they have been very valuable protection. With leaf springs - we just bang a lot more than those fancy boys and thier tall coiler toys.

                            Firemanshort,

You've been the only one on 4 forums to admit to having used yours! Thanks for the info.
