Ohm resistance for early fuel sender

Anyone know the resistance range for an early, non-s3 type fuel sender? My digital ammeter isn't sensitive enough to test.

full 20, empty 220. Assume you mean Smith's sender.

Thanks! Yeah, I bought the one you linked me to over at the GnR site. My situation didn't improve after installing the new sending unit, so I'm thinking there must be a gremlin elsewhere in the wiring. I'm thinking about bypassing the stock harness and installing a new gauge to match the sender's resistance.
