I'm afraid I don't know any reliable Series mechanics on the East End. I'm using a general local mechanic, in Quogue, but he's not particularly knowledgeable about Rovers. What's the nature of the problem ?
any decent "mechanic" should be able to work through a series problem, no?
That's funny, I think the same thing. How come a professional auto mechanic can work on something complicated, but they don't want to touch something so rudimentary and dead-simple?
Probably because they'll have to charge the customer for their ACTUAL time instead of the WAY over-inflated repair times listed, by vehicle, in the Chilton's repair estimating book.

I also think when they hear " Land Rover" they automatically get into panic mode. I was talking to a very reputable transmission shop about posibbly rebuiling my gearbox etc. He said well Land Rovers ZFs blah blah..I said wait a second, this a 1969 Land Rover I am talking about. He said oh, drop it off lets break it down and see how she is and I will give you a price for everything including transfer case..lol. The deer in headlight thing I suppose.. I am really curious about whats going on to cause "distrought". We been that way since the day we brought these things into our lives..lol ( I think)..
Clint has resuscitated the Birmabright Brotherhood and I've been trying to build up a comprehensive list of Series-specific garages/restoration shops & parts suppliers (Rovers North is literally the first entry in the database table) on SeriesParts.com. I've currently got 88 businesses listed and another 34 in my queue for vetting & listing, but I'm sure there are hundreds I've not stumbled across yet (submissions are _greatly_ appreciated).
So, we're trying to fill in that gap.
