Hello, I am in the process of restoring our 1969 Land Rover Series IIa, 88". We had been looking for a 88"er for awile and eventually we found ours and had to buy it. At first glance it didn't look to bad, we knew the frame was bad and the paint was awful but hey, we wanted a project truck. Well after reading all over the internet and magaizines we figured out we really would like to swap in a 200TDI. As it looks if your easy on things the stock gearbox/t-case/axles should handle the power of a 200TDI, and we really would like a little more power for driveability of the old girl. Now our problem is finding a 200TDI. We found a sight that imports just the motors, but it looks a little sketchy and really not sure if they are a reliable source. We were thinking about importing but really not sure about shipping and all that. I was just wondering if you guys had any input as to where we could find a solid 200, if its better to import etc.... Thanks!
Where to get 200TDI?

I've got a Series III 109 with a bad motor but good everything else and I've been thinking about the same thing - swapping in either a 200 or 300 tdi. Are both straight bolt-in swaps and, if so, is there an advantage of one over the other? My truck is a 24v FFR but like all do, it has a 12v ignition system. I assume the diesels don't need any electricity to run but maybe they use it for something else. My starter is 24v; will it bolt right on to the diesel?Comment
