    Series III door hinges

    Greetings all!

As winter drags on, I am considering warm-weather projects.

My Series III 88" has painted door hinges. Obviously, the contact surfaces are no longer painted and are rusty. Rusty to the point that red streaking is occuring on the doors and bulkhead below the hinges.

What is the collective wisdom for this?

    Galvanize the hinges?

Repaint with some sort of bronze washer bearing between the hinge halves?

    Something else?

    Thanks in advance!

If it's not a show car perhaps consider the Defender door hinges, they give you a great place to mount modern mirrors too. It's what I have on my SIII 109.

Which defender hinges are you talking about? I've seen solid stainless ones (nice!) and the "corrosion resistant alloy" ones sold by our hosts. Are there others?

My truck is not a show car. Its a daily driver and is a bitza, constructed for reliability and parts interchange.

FWIW, my hinges are drilled for defender mirrors too. Great improvement over the wing mounted ones.

I'm using the alloy ones. The stainless ones are tempting, except for the price. Don't know (remember) of any others
