Oh Mud's blog is fantastic, too bad he's having so many issues with photo theft lately, I think it's going to totally ruin a great resource.

If you're going to do that, why not just do what the Marines do (or at least USED to do)...A big chain looped through the steering wheel and around the brake pedal and padlocked.

Will likely go this route. Wondering whether there's any stateside equivalent, to avoid huge shipping costs for something so heavy.

Wow, I guess I really must take living in Maine for granted. This whole concept of needing security for a 45 year old vehicle that most people think is a Jeep or a land cruiser escapes me. My own brother in law, who has ridden in my truck a thousand times, and even driven it, tried to start it the other day to move it in the yard. He couldn't figure out the choke, throttle sequence to get it started.

It's not just Maine, James...I live in the highest-crime city in the same state as the OP and I'm not too worried about someone stealing my 109, even though my ignition switch stopped caring about the shape of the ignition key long, long ago.

I'm of the same opinion... a casual thief (in America) would be befuddled by a Series and there's nothing you can do to protect yourself from any thief "targeting" your vehicle (other than owning a good insurance policy).

That said, I do love reading about how the Brits try to hamper casual thieves (much bigger problem over there). These are two examples from a recent thread on the Series 2 Club forum...

And I certainly agree with you. I live in the back of beyond in New Hampshire and don't give it a second thought. But I'm moving back to my home state of Arkansas for a couple of years and crime in Little Rock is abundant. That my vehicle is "Razorback Red" - unintentionally I might add - only compounds the potential risk that some ardent fan might try to make off with it. Most theft there is opportunist and I would like to thwart the spontaneous heist best I can.

I have had several friends try and drive mine.........I am pretty confident somebody would have a hard time getting to the end of my driveway. Unless they bring a trailer and a winch I'm not that worried about it.
