    Leaky Diff

Hi everyone, decided to look into my oil soaked rear differential and find out where it leaking from. First thing I did was wipe it down with mineral spirits to see better. What I noticed was "seepage"? on the cover area. Does it look like I'm a candidate for a new welded on cover?Click image for larger version

I would make sure your axle breather isn't clogged first. Even if it is, since there are no seams there, the metal must be getting pretty porous.

Looks spongy...Something like PC-7 might get you some more miles out of it but eventually it'll need to be rectified. Before you go putting any work into it check out the rest of the housing, particularly inside the bracing.
I cut mine off only to find the housing it was hiding was not long for the world. It was less work at that point to just replace the housing with a good one.
