    Galvanized frame

I have bought a new galvanized frame for a serie IIA. I would like to know what is the best thing. 1- keeping the frame like it 2-painting the frame. The main idea to paint it is because is visible on the rear side. What is the best way to do things

    Thank you

You can paint the chassis. There are a few things that you need to be aware of. First, do not allow the chassis to get in the rain and develop any white oxide. this will prevent the paint from staying on. If it does get white oxide, then you will have to use a stainless steel wire brush to remove it to shiny metal.
If all the metal is still shiny, then you can begin with a solvent wipe to get all the greases and oils off. After the solvent wipe, apply two coats of epoxy primer. I used Awl-Grip primer. Then I finished with three coats of satin black polyurethane Perfection from Interlux.
    I sprayed all the coats.
Came out great, and is very tough.

Wow, nice work. At first I was thinking you left it white, that would be an interesting resto look, white chassis and that old school series blue.

I had an older galvanized frame that I coated with waxoyl black hard wax, looks good. It takes MUCH Much less prep and easier to touch up later. Another choice.
