Fuel tank draw tube screen

I was having the standard starved for fuel scenario on my 64. After a bunch of trouble shooting I found the pick up tube was clogged. Did these draw tubes come with a screen on the end? If so can you buy just the screen or should I just get some fine metal screening and fasten it to to the tube with some wire?

It is a soldered on metal screen.

I have been successful using a Defender draw tube Filter as a replacement. You will need to get creative because it is too big to install and then make it fit back in the hole. So, pull the sending unit and put the filter on the end of the tube using that hole.

Anyway, i have done that on two trucks with great luck......our host sell the filter.
