Years ago my brother wrapped a big thick rope around his bumper because he liked 'the look' I think.

One time his Rover's right from wheel started skidding and just about ripped the steering wheel out of his hand. The end of the rope had slipped off the bumper and got under the tire - he is lucky that he didn't end up off the road.

most of us with older rovers know its a rough ride. i even have a rover drive. anyway. yes. a heavy gauge rope would look good. it's the look man. everybody looks at my series 2a 109 and associate it with some movie. after i do the rope, i'm going to do jerry cans.

Ah, "The Look"... Look for the tool mounts (and tools) for a shovel. axe, and pick, they look cool. There's also the dual mount spares (on on the hood, one on the rear). And Lights... lottsa lights. Oh, and all the five bar chequer plate stuff. Kit it up like Laura Croft's Defender.

if you've seen the picture of it on pintrest, couldn't you just post the same picture here? Never mind this initially seen on a website known for notoriously and impractically over accessorizing everything well beyond usefulness.
The rope is good for looks, but keep in mind the UV rays can break down the material and if you ever plan to use said decorative rope it could snap.
If you want, you could figure-8 it around the front bumper, and achieve the same look but with a way to hold the rope in place.

The "rope on the front" being an indicator of bada$$ off-road capability is a common theme in the ORV world..

I know it's a Defender, but here's another rover that's well-adorned with accessories added, making it look cool:

We all like the way these trucks look that's part of why we have them. Go ahead and dress it up like you're in a make believe safari parade just don't do anything dangerous.

Hey! That gravity feed Keg on the roof rack has merit!

Rope, jerry cans? All this rover pourn talk is making me giddy! Paint it zebra striped and this is going to be wicked awesome!
(Yes the gravity feed keg does have merit, along with the bathroom mirror)
