Comparison of Defender hinge with my original Series III hinge

I couldn't figure out how to add this to my recent thread, but this shot shows how much material would have to be removed from the top of the Defender hinge before it will fit my Series III door without fouling the galvanized capping. Also, it shows that drilling the original hinge would place the mirror mounting holes quite close to the edges of the hinge. There are many Series III rigs with Defender mirrors, so maybe someone can suggest a remedy for this problem without requiring major surgery?

    THESE perhaps??

They look narrower than the defender hinges... while still able to accommodate the D-style mirrors.
Further searching on Ebay-uk may yield additional results...
    Just a thought...

Presuming you don't have a milling machine at your disposal, I'd just take the excess material off carefully with a grinder, but that's me.
