    OM617 Swap

I would like to see who has done them. No need to post your whole build thred, just a good running list of all of the successful swaps. What tranny you ended up using if you went away from stock.

I would really like to know how many have put the Merc diesel in front of the stock tranny and how well the tranny stood up to the additional power. A stock 2.25 is supposed to turn about 70hp and 120ft/lb. and the stock 617 is about 135hp 180ft/lb.

Thats a noticeable gain, one I would love to have, and if I could just spend the money for the RD kit, I still might do it. But if there isn't a single person out there running a stock trans behind a 617 then the 2.25 is getting a refresh and going back in.

    thanks

Search the Guns and Rovers board for Jim's build as he may have been the first to do it and has the most miles on the truck.

MercedesRover (of seriestrek.com) has the OM617 in his 109, but mated to a NP435 transmission.
73TurboRover on gunsandrovers.com has the OM617 mated to his stock transmission and appears to be holding up fine, leaks aside: http://gunsandrovers.com/showthread....light=mercedes

If RD is out of kits, Jopa on gunsandrovers is selling his adapter for the OM617 to the np435 and an OM617 engine: http://gunsandrovers.com/showthread.php?t=6557

In theory your stock transmission should and will hold up to the power (like it will hold up to the power of a 200tdi) but its life expectancy will be much reduced (driving style dependent I'm sure).
