Before asking my question, I wanted to state my progress. After about 6 months playing around with my 64' IIA, I finally have it on the road. Replaced valves, head gasket, numerous brake parts, and spend wonderful times on the electric. I even had to improvise an indicator for the high beams using an LED which works great.
Until last week, it only went up and down the driveway since it wasn't registered. During two short outings, I was left stranded, one less than a mile from home. The first one was a clogged draw tube for the fuel, and the second was a clogged fuel filter. It seems there is more rust in the fuel line than gasoline. The tank had been "professionally treated" for rust and had two leaks in addition to not eliminating the rust.
The new fuel tank arrived yesterday and I hope to put it in today. This is a ProLine tank, and the question is, is this adequately protected from rust, or should I attempt to put a rust preventative product in before I install it.
