There are no silly questions in a Landrover forum

It seems, with all probability, that my hood is touching my radiator cap when the hood is fastened down. Is there anyone who has noticed this, and if so, what type of remedy have you found?

There are on the other hand . . . silly answers!

Remove hood - helps engine run cooler too!

If the "Landing Strip" is missing it could let the bonnet close far enough to touch the cap. This is a heavy fabric/canvas strip that is held in place by metal clips to the breakfast top.

To verify the probability you could put some SILLY puddy (or play doe) on the cap, close the hood and then see if the doe has been deformed.

So no springy hood latch thingy in the middle, just the external hold-down hooks on the top of the wings and a big wheel on top of the hood.

Are any of the steel supports on the underside of the hood bent, rusted-through or cracked?

Safe Air, correct, no springy thing in the middle, folding hood support never reinstalled after rebuild, and ex-mod hood latches on outside. My hood is in good condition, so rust, or decay, I was thinking the easiest fix is to install some kind of spacers on top of breakfast tray, 1/4 of an inch should do it.

If your Rover is pretty much stock in that area and there is, in fact, a problem with the bonnet contacting the top of the rad, then you have an issue that really should be fully investigated to find the cause, rather than to just cure the symptom, IMO.

Are you certain there's contact between the bonnet and the factory radiator cap?
