    Brake Fluid....Fill or Not Fill?

    Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, and I am in the process of restoring a Series IIA. I need to put it into storage for a couple of months, and have a questions about the brake fluid. I just ran new brake lines, and have yet to fill them with brake fluid.
I'm thinking on NOT putting brake fluid in, and waiting until I take it out in a couple of months. Any reason that this is not a good idea?

    Thanks,
    M

IMO, if the system is complete & ready for fluid, then I would just go ahead and fill & bleed the system. That way, you can get any moisture out of the system that may be there, and the fluid will protect the inside of the system from corrosion. Better safe than sorry.

Don't fill unless you have to use the brakes.

I would look into using silicone brake fluid since it is a whole new system.

I agree with Silicone, it will draw less H2O into your system, and help to eliminate any corrosion of parts that want to rust normally.

When I rebuilt my hydraulics I used DOT 5 fluid which is silicon based. Much cleaner, less corrosion and easier on the seals. DOT 3 is the "old" kind, which of course works. Just some disadvantages.
