    Dealer inquiry

A friend has asked about this truck:

Is anyone familiar with this dealer?

I see some issues, but the ad has so little valuable information that it is hard to tell.

No personal experience , though they buy their parts from our hosts.

No knowledge of the dealer, but the pics are packed with valuable information. Ab-so-lutely packed.

        Agreed 100%.

If the pictures aren't providing the info you need to make the right decision, then you need to see it in person.

From what the pictures show, that seems to be a steal compared to all the other ones I've seen online. Of course one can only tell so much from pictures. Knowing how these things rust, an inspection is a must IMO.

It is an inquiry from a friend. Hemmings has two for a similar price, all the others are stratospherically priced. If they show continued interest, I'll go have a look....I know where they rust

              I dunno--It's not like it's a mid-90s NAS Defender; It's a 29 year old pre-"Defender" 90 import at a mid-90s NAS Defender price.

Maybe I'm out of touch with what everyone is selling their 30 year old stuff for in the UK, but it seems to me you'd be way ahead if you bought a round-trip ticket to the UK, spent a week or two looking for/purchasing the right 90 that wasn't all painted over, arranged shipping, then used the several thousands of dollars you had left over to fix all the problems expected of a 29 year-old 90.

In other words, buy a 90, get a free vacation and a huge wad of cash.

It has a surplus of checquer plate, which is usually applied to hide problems.

One bonus, it is LHD. Most of what you'd find in UK would be RHD.

Do an eBay search. You'll be surprised.

Also ask on the D90 forum, this is for Series vehicles though many have knowledge of both.

Looks like they put waxoyl over a ton of the rust on the underside……that and the checker plate would make me nervous enough to put my eyes on it personally.

Check out lro.com, find your truck with a current mot, add 2500 for shipping to an east coast port and whatever for your vacation and see what it comes to. I kinda like that idea, especially some of the options you may find. Over 100 trucks mid 80s to mid 90s 4-7000£

I'm always leery of metal plate, like @sea said. If it's not hiding rust, then it is sure a breeding ground for rust! Suggestive of see it first for sure, although it is a bit far away. Just saying.
