Fender mirror material - Metal or plastic?

I've bought two sets of round fender mirrors for my '64, each one claiming to be better than the other, and they are both made of plastic. I have to assume the originals were metal (correct?), so I'm wondering if there is still a source for metal ones?

You could always check with Ike. He tends to carry NLA genuine series parts. My personal preference is for the plastic ones because they do not rust.
