Hey guys,
So I am getting ready to install a new fuel tank on my 73 88. The new fuel sending unit has a low fuel indicator which I know is not required, nor is my dash pre-wired for it. But I figured if I got it...would be cool to get it connected. I assume (which is why I ask) that the low fuel component of the sending unit needs to be wired to one end of an idiot light on the dash while the other end of the idiot light is wired to 12V from the ignition or other "hot while on" source. I assume (I hate that word) that when the float is not in a low fuel status, the sending unit is an open line (not connected to ground)...therefore giving an open circuit to the idiot light. And when the float goes low enough, the sending unit engages ground which in turn completes the circuit and the idiot light comes on.
Please tell me it is that easy
For anyone that does have a low fuel idiot light...where is it on your LR dash?
