    Layshaft up-grade

We broke the layshaft in our '68 military gearbox a few years back, replaced it with a spare form our parts car, but it is time to rebuild the military box. Am I right to understand that it is possible to use a newer and better layshaft and appropriate gears to strengthen it a bit? So if so, who know the part numbers I will need? thanks Jim

Go with the suffix D and up parts. Suffix C is not bad either. If your truck still has the '68 box then chances are you have one of these to start with. The higher the suffix you go the better.
