S-III Diesel Valve Cover Breather

What should the insides of a breather cover look like - is there steel wool or anything else in there? Mine is empty, no guts. 1975 S-III, 109, SSW, 2.25D. Thanks - Riley

mine was empty too- just some oil residue....
