    Appears to be an electric fuel pump that’s been left in place but bypassed.

      Makes sense. It is just in the other side of the fuel tank. Series 3 88. New project and runs pretty well so I won’t worry about it!

        That is a fuel transticulator. Very rare. Should bring premium $$ on e of bay.

              Well, if this is made by Lucas, then it simply excites the fuel molecules before they enter the mechanical fuel pump and get pushed to the carby.
              I suppose it could also align the fuel molecules in a + to - orientation...
