    Weird oil pressure

My mechanical oil pressure gauge needle is bouncing all over the place. Ihe gauge is about 1 year old. Any ideas on cause?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Possibly air in the line. With the engine running, loosen the nut on the back of the gage. Retighten when oil drops come out.

Will do! Why would I get air in the line when it's been OK up until now?
      Thanks,
      Jim

Did you run it low? Or go up/down any steep hills lately? If oil fails to reach the pick up tube for any reason, a little air can be drawn into the system.

Not that I remember and I keep the oil up to the H mark on the dipstick but I had to pannic stop and noticed that the oil pressure went to 0 on the gauge. That might have done it.

            FYI,
I've had air bubbles in each hose on every mechanical gage one very vehicle that had one, and there have been a lot.
I've never had any of the gauges bounced around?
My gauge on my IIa is full of air bubbles and it is rock steadly.

Everytime you change the oil your pump sucks a little air as the oil has drained out of the pick up tube.

            .

I recently replaced my radiator support which meant that the oil coller lines were disconected. I my have gotten more than a small amount of air in the gauge line at that time. I know a lot of air will affect the gauge. Besides it won't be hard to bleed the line out.
