    Rarest Series Parts?

People always ask me how hard it is to get parts for my Land Rover. I explain that it is quite easy and I have never had problems finding what I need. When recently asked I to thinking-- what are the hardest parts to find for a Series Land Rover?

My question to all of you:
What parts have you had the most difficulty tracking down? What parts would you be most worried about finding if you were doing a restoration? What is your "holy grail" of LR parts?

    Oh no!

We tell you and you start buying them up.

I already pay enough as it is, I don't need another middleman.
    61 II 109" Pickup (Restomod, 350 small block, TR4050)
66 IIA 88" Station Wagon (sold)
    66 IIA 109" Pickup (Restomod, 5MGE, R380)
67 IIA 109" NADA Wagon (sold)
    88, 2.5TD 110 RHD non-hicap pickup

-I used to know everything there was to know about Land Rovers; then I joined the RN Bulletin Board.

A Series IIB bulkhead and front clip.

Soon just about everything. Not only is LR disontinuing Series parts, but so are aftermarket companies. Seems like everyone outside North American just upgrades to a 300tdi Defender so fewer and fewer people are buying Series parts.

The signal lens are available right now at RDS

Some of the parts like the lens and rubbers you can still get from Moss Motors.

Just to be a rivet counter I should point out that while they may be 4" lenses the RDS parts are not the OEM items. The OEM ones have three mounting screws as shown in the picture whilst the RDS ones have only 2. If it is OEM it should say L833 on the lense.

Having said that the place I found that had them had a good sense of humour about the price so you could afford to put four new RDS ones on for the price of one 'original' from them. For that kind of money I think I can do without one screw on each corner!

Oh, and this week there was an ebay auction for two used ones. Put in Land Rover Series and keep scrolling. I can't remember when it ended tho.

                  Cheers
                  Gregor

I Mistyped I was refering to the rectangular marker lights not the signal lens. OPPS

I bought 5 used amber 4" lights a while back for my rig I still have some in the basement. Some had some cracks a little rust on the sockets but they fine for my daily driver.

Terri Ann, that is a little scarey. You do not think with the large number of 2.25s produced there will always be a demand?

Pitted aluminum and a badly rusted chassis and bulkhead?

Topping my list for an authentic restoration it would be riginal upholstery as in elephant hide (available but expensive)and some nice original Avon tyres which are also still available(but expensive).
