Headed to UK in March. Anything I should bring back?

I'm headed across the pond in March. I know of a couple decent junkyards with some rovers. Getting the parts back might be an issue, but there are things I could fit in a box (like a bunch of tailgates). Any recomendations?

I plan to eventually make my way over there too and hope to bring back some goodies. I'm sure you could ship the things that would be too big. Might cost a bit though.

check around where you will be at there mite be a rover jumble somewhere close I went to a big one in Newbury just off of the A34 (I lived close by at the time) LOTS of good stuff to be had.

The good part about going over is that you can talk to the people, face to face, who know where the bits are that you simply can't locate over here. The bad part is that the pound is so strong, it may kill you to pay for them.
I made something like just over 80 trips when I was in business, but after the novelty wore off, I was scoping out the classic and vintage bike people. After a while, enough people start to think of you as their 'source', and you get to pay for a few airline tickets and a few extra nights stay on someone elses dime. I can think of harder ways to work.
I never found any scrap yards that specialized in Land Rovers, because there were so many around, and in daily use. People thought of them as just another work vehicle. On the other hand, I retired a few years ago, and the LR movement has quadrupled in a few short years.

Sadly, you're right about the pound. Checking prices at new parts sources, I've found there are a few things I can bring back and save on still. Canvas tops appear to be one of them, and I need one. Not sure what else to look for that would be shippable. Badges, tailgates, grills, and the like are all light, and easily put in a box for shipment home, or checked through. Not sure what else to look for though. Any recomendations?

I've been a couple times already, and know some decent yards with enough there to make it worthwile. There's one near Harrogate that had a bunch of rovers.

YOU BET The one I went too was great so much stuff so little time. The biggist one I went too was the Beaulieu autojumble man 2 days you couldn't see it all but it was for all kinds of cars. http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/motormuseum/introduction.cfm

the rover one I went to I picked up some way good deals but now the pound is higher. it was 1.65 to pound then and now about 2.00 to the pound.

yep thats what thay are called over there. I don't know of a schedule may be try e-mailing some of the old rover dealers that mite work.

You vintage like this? the bike in the back ground with the gray seat was my bmw K100. this was just one of many weekend get to gethers. this one was a Triumph meet and this Triumph was made in 1915.

Yeah, pretty much like that. My newest BMW was a '53 R51/3, traded it for an R68. I've had some Earls Bikes, but truly love the plunger/telescope vintage.
Most of my Brit stuff was pre '50, except for a '57 TR6, and '53 Plunger B33. I was into Red Hunters in a big way, and had an original SQ4 (the cammy 500, not the modern ones)
All I have left now are a '57 TR6, '47 B32 (Ex factory Trials, Ex Sammy Miller) and that ISDT Guzzi. Since it came from AK, Do you want my son to bring it to you when he comes home for a visit. He can drop it off on his way back down to the ferry at Homer.

I had a Comet once, but the twins were always just out of my reach, or there was something more pressing. Just when I thought I was going to get a Rapide (C) the boiler died. You know how it goes.

Have you ever seen the ISDT Guzzi ? It's a 125cc extreme trials bike, motor was based on the Stornello.
So we don't make a complete theft of this thread, Thixon, check out the classifieds in the back of any of the UK rags, they always have a calender of sortouts and jumbles. There's one in Stafford in March, but don't remember the dates.
