    Clutch Slave Gasket/Shim - Series 3?

I'm getting ready to replace the clutch slave on my SIII 109 and the parts manual shows a "gasket" for the slave (part# 591988). It's not really a gasket, more of a metal shim. The green bible does not reference this gasket/shim in the slave replacement steps. Is it necessary? Should I install it or leave it out?

I'd make one out of a durable paper or real thin gasket material. it wouldn't have to be very good as it really wouldn't be doing much, maybe abate some dust accumulation?, or if you don't have the drain plug removed it'd maybe keep water out of the clutch housing for a while....... that's about it.

So, what did you do with the "gasket" replacement? We will haul and take in SIII project once the new tires and brake pads from 4Wheelonline are installed on the truck, First of the tasks is the clutch system.
