Diesel injector getting hot???? Why would this be? Injector clogged? help 2.25 BTW

Rebuilt Injector pump installed today and ran great died, hard to restart and checking injectors found new #1 hot touch? Flushed #1 injector line, will run now waiting to cool down, could trash have gotten pushed through???? Is this normal? This thing has not been on the road in 6 months due to head gasket, etc...

I'm suspecting timing? Unless it's running real bad then check firing order of the lines .... a oft more common thing; that diesel passing thru the injector and to a degree cools it, not a lot of fuel, it'll warm up tho still sound ok at idle. IF you're familiar with the engine you'd notice it driving under load. I"d wait for someone else to chime in here before going thru all the replacement procedure. It'd help putting the 'ray gun' on your injectors and compare temps. that's my 1cent worth!

The injector was stuck open! Replaced under warranty. Thanks for input, engine has now spun rod bearings its one thing after another, going petrol now tired of this diesel not running nor being reliable. have a brand new rebuilt pump for sale if its indeed dead, diagnostics being done today.

gawd that sucks, big time. If I had a diesel i'd grab your pump but no sign of one on the horizon. someone wants it. there is a for sale thread on here as well.
once you get things squared away you'll be satisfied, hopefully for years. I've had one of mine since 1974 and in 1976 I did a 'economy' overhaul (it just needed valve stem seals) but it runs fine except for the body beat to H !! I must have driven it to the moon a dozen times by now?

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the diesel . I am surprised that the engine didn't knock severely with an injector stuck open. I had this happen to my S3 Diesel and I though a rod had let go, the knock was so loud. I understand the knock is due to the injection starting and thus firing well before top dead centre thus trying the push the crank backwards. Fortunately I stopped the engine immediately & had the LR towed home. swapped the faulty injector out and all OK. I ran both 2.25 & 2.5 diesels for many years with very few problems. Even had a One Ten 2.5 idi Turbo, , for over 70k miles, sold it and the next owner took it to 150k before he passed it on. This engine had a very poor reputation but I believe people often ran it on the wrong engine oil which was a killer.
