what did you ''restore''? I'm suspecting clutch/flywheel issue?

So try this: Get going ~ 50 mph on a downhill. Depress clutch and check 4 vibration continuing, changing or stopping. If no change then shut engine off & check again. Vary engine revs & check 4 vibration variance. Clutch disc could be unbalanced....Flywheel also. Fan too. Drive shaft?? Road wheel or tyre? LOTS to chew on!! Let us know what U find, k?? Good luck

Landrover drive shafts (at least on the series) were particular on the alignment. you'll find there is a dot on the shafts (receptical and plug to be politically correct) but both halves have a not too easy to see dot and that is how they should match. similar to the roller rockers, they too were matched at the factory for which cylinder they serviced. in 1976 I'm pretty sure i got mine all mixed up which i don't know whether to remedy or not one day when they get pulled out. as charles mentions, I'm sure there is some particular about that flywheel/clutch assy. as well. hopefully you have access to the 'green bible'.
