    Series 3 Starter Motor

Was there ever a "Mean Green" starter motor available for the Series 3 petrol engine? I thought that I installed one in my 1972 Series 3 many years back but I can't find anything in my pile of receipts.
I'll be taking the starter motor out on Monday as it has stopped working so I guess I'll find out what type I have.

I bot a S2 that the brand new owner had taken to his favorite shop and they installed petronix ignition and fluid changed an other $950 worth of stuff & labor and when he drove away he made it two blocks and the engine froze up as they'd forgotten to put oil in the engine after a change!! ................. i bot it for a fair price although the engine would not rotate. When I got home (400 miles) I put a gear reduction starter in it i think from rover north and it fired and ran. i drove it gengerly not more than 2-3 miles at a time but it froze after it started knocking so it's parked awaiting me to get the roof on my shop. but yes, that gear reduction starter rotated the engine and it registered oil pressure but it was just too far gone to be ok so now it sits, for a while !!

It took me all afternoon but I finally got the little bugger out. There was no way I could get a wrench or a socket on that top bolt without removing the exhaust down pipe from the manifold. It's been many years since that was put on so I was afraid of studs snapping in the manifold but I was lucky. The starter is definitely a Mean Green starter. but I can see no sign of a part number on it. There is no sign of life when I connect it directly to the battery. I'm going to see if I can find a repair shop that will look at it. The only starter motor our host sells for this vehicle is a High Torque model from ProLine that costs $528.80 !!!!

Mean Green did make a Series starter at one time that we used to sell, but it was discontinued years ago. I would recommend contacting Mean Green directly; maybe they offer a repair service.

Arthur, thanks for responding. I was able to find a repair shop in Chelmsford MA that repairs all electric motors. it's all fixed and installed. i did try contacting Mean Green via their website but got no response.
Do you guys have records of Sales from the 1990's? i would love to see a copy of the invoice for the starter. i tried online but it doesn't go back far enough.
