what sort or brand name of manual did you get?? '' professionals'' are particular about publishers!
I always appreciate manuals. If you've been wrenching a long time, there are shortcuts everywhere.
how things fit, loads on bearings, wire schematics, various specs etc. are invariably a must.

It depends on the manual/publisher. All have valid input but some are best forgotten!

The “Green Bible”(Green Official Land Rover one) is the most accurate. Chilton one is second best, however they are sometimes wrong or don’t have variants and options in there. I find the official parts manual’s exploded views to be amazingly valuable for disassembly and assembly…and knowing about little bits and bops like seals and things you might forget to order along with the actual part you’re replacing. The Chilton one is organized well, with useful info like torque specs and fluid capacities right at the beginning and end of each chapter. The LR Green Bible is organized like a World War 2 treaty agreement; the section numbers make no sense and there’s page numbers, too, but not used? And torque specs are just peppered in the text. You have to read half a page of 10 point font just to get ”right…22 foot lbs…got it”.

ProTip: If you have a scanner printer(most are multifunctional now), before you do a job, scan/copy the exploded view from the parts manual’s and whatever page has the torque specs and useful info. Then, you can get THAT all greasy and crumpled and save your manuals.

Wiring Diagrams: Having these scanned and on your phone is great. The writing is SO small, it helps to have the ability to zoom in. Especially in a dark engine bay or upside down under a dashboard. Also helps to get a P-Touch label printer and just label wires as you go. You’ll thank yourself later.

Lastly, there are some great YouTube channels out there devoted to Series repairs. These are so comprehensive that they should just be considered “manuals” at this point because they are so instructive. Double check the manuals on specs, but often you can just get by with the YT videos.
