Any value to 231801 5x16 series wheels?

I have four original 5x16 wheels stamped with the 231801 part number. They were blasted and painted limestone years ago and have been sitting in the shop since. A friend sold them to me implying they were correct for my 71 IIA.

From the research I have done it seems that they are more than likely earlier series I/II wheels. One is stamped '62, another '67 and the two others are not date stamped but have "made in england" stamped on the inside rim along with"5.00x16". Are these worth anything? I was going to use them with 235/85/16 tires but believe they are too skinny and also would need tubes.

Any ideas on putting a value on these? Thanks

The number should be 231601, which was OE fir for all 88" with 6.00 and 6.50 size tyres.
Would work on the Sankey, I guess.

I have the exact same wheel with 235/85/16 mounted to it. No tube needed.

If they are the 231601's then you can mount a 215/85/16. This is roughly the same size as the old 7.00x16. Good compromise and skinny tread too.

Nothing really special about those wheels. Good thing is they will fit any year of series truck, down side is not many people are looking for the narrow rims. Brand new 109" rims, which are wider, are cheap to begin with. You could get a decent price from the right person looking for that wheel in that condition but probably won't be worth more than $20 each under normal circumstances.
You can use these without tubes but be aware that these might not have the groove around the rim to hold the tire bead like a tubless rim does. Most of the time this isn't an issue but it only takes one accident.......

Thats a safety bead and yep no problem running tubeless. some off roaders look for them becouse you can change a tire in the woods if need be. old vws that I work on came that way and there tubeless. I don't think a old rover has got it in them too be able to roll a tire off the rim becouse of no safety bead .

Unless I am mistaken they are riveted and not welded- thus they can leak through rivet holes when used tubeless.
