Center Under-seat tool tray

I wonder if trays with the stepped bottom were designed for the 6cyl rovers. The motor sits about 3" farther back than on the four banger. The step may be to provide additional clearance to the transfercase.

The step up provides clearance for the mechanical brake cross bar. Maybe its a RHD vs LHD thing?

Mine is more like a swimming pool. It is mostly flat with a gradual up-ward incline about 2/3 of the way back. It also came off of a military SIIA Santana that was in Saudia Arabia.

Well, I saved myself about $175 and made a center seat tool box, as several suggested. Just finished - it's not pretty, but it serves its purpose...
