S11a no longer starts...!

Still trying to get my rig running. here are the background facts.

• 2 months ago truck started and ran great. let truck sit for 1 month and now it doesn't start.
• timing is good, verified with strobe.
• i have spark in every cylinder
• each cyl reads 150 psi.
• coughs out carb
• backfires when ignition is turned off.
• can make engine run with idle screw all the way in and shooting starting fluid into carb
• fuel pump fills translucent filter during starting.
• i'm in maine, so it is now below freezing. could it be ice or something freezing in the carb?
• has pertronix ignition
• has new spark plugs

is it possible for the truck to not start because of weak spark, due to a bad coil? the coil is not the one that comes with the pertronix set up, but it has worked great up to a few months ago.

Erik,

1. Did you do any work to the truck between the time it last ran and the first onset of trouble?

2. What carburettor is on it?

3, When you screw the idle screw in/juice it with starter fluid, you said it will start. At what point does it stall? IE, does it stall immediately or run for a while and then peter out?

Problem solved

for some reason the distributor popped off the drive piece.

fixed and runs like a top again.
