Present my fifth land rover, 1964 series IIa 88" permute by a yamaha gt 80, landy now in restoring process, problems with zenith carburetor, and the gasoline tank is full of stain, no rear shock absorbers.
Previous Land Rover Series I 1957 88"
Series III 1973 88"
Series III 1980 (Santana) 88"
and now a XJ 89 Jeep Rubicon 3", Dana.

Best of luck with your '64 IIa. I happen to have the exact same year and model so if you need any pictures for comparison purposes let me know and I would be happy to help. It looks like yours might be an original from South America (based on your location). Mine also spent all but the last few years in Paraguay so that might also add to the similarities.

Overall I have not found any major differences but the wiring codes (colors) don't seem to follow the standards outlined in wiring diagrams (might be due to tinkering over the years though).

clean the fuel tank with coke.

Zenith carbs are junk and rarely ever work properly. You vintage of truck would have come with a solex which is a much better carb. Either source out a rebuilt solex or buy a new weber from our host. In the end you will end up with a lot less headaches. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.
