    Series III original wheel/tire size

I have a '73 SIII with 15" wheels. What wheels and tires would have been originally fitted? I see a lot of reference to 16" wheels.

it would have originally been 15's.

    I think I have the original size - 30 x 9.5 x 15 but that part could be incorrect

All NA 88 Rovers from 1966 until 1974, when they stopped importing and selling them here had 15" wheels. Earlier NA Rovers had 16" wheelsa and ran either 600X16 or 7:50X16 tires depending if it was an 88 or 109. It was a big deal to switch back to 16" wheels because you could get a bigger, taller tire thus more clearance until they came out with 15inch tires larger than 30" in diameter. If I remember correctly, tires on your year Rover were more like 29" in diameter because it was a big deal to get custom wheels so that you could run a 31X10:50 X15 tire. FWIW at this point as long as I can get 33" diameter X 15" tires I won't waste the $ to switch to 16s.

        Original tyre size was 7.00 X 15.
I guess these are a bit rare now, though some Classic Car site maybe able to help.

That is Sayer's 1974 Series III's build ticket. His came with 710X15 apparently.

            Wowsa

I'd not crossed those before, but I am sure others will say, Yah, all NAS late IIa's and Series III's had those........

I don't know if they all had them but apparently Sayer's did.

I've always lumped them in with 7.00 15s since they are more or ess the same size.

              Another popular size was H78-15 IIRC. A H series converts to a ~7.60- 15, which in metric terms breaks down to ~a 215R15 , 225-75-15. maybe a 235-75 15

All of which seem dinky by today's standards don't they?!

7.10x15s is correct. Good luck finding them. 7.00x15 is still available here and there.
