Hello. I just got my registration setup for this Forum and I guess no better way to introduce myself. I purchased a project 1969 2A Bugeye 88" last September. It is Petrol and LHD. Car No. 24435992F. It is a one family owned truck. I cannot truly confirm the mileage but it looks like a original 27K mile truck. Purchased in 1969 and later inherited by the son and sold to me last September from the estate. It is a heavily patina Poppy Red. Currently doing a complete restore. New Marsland frame and currently working towards getting a rolling chassis in the next few weeks. Now located in Woburn, MA. Cheers, Tom

There was a bugeye for sale on eBay back in October — Car No. 24435763F. I was thinking about buying it, but it looked like a bit of a mess, and was located in Martha's Vineyard. I couldn't get there to put eyes on it before bidding. Not sure if it sold/who bought it, but came across this thread today so I figured I'd add it in here.

I have acquired a 1969 (made between March 15 - April 15 for US) Bugeye. VIN 24435782F Good shape - original, missing sills and apron. Original color Pastel Green, 2.25 petrol. She was made yellow and decent rebuild in the late 90's. Originally purchased in Waynesville, NC from LR dealership. Currently in Charlotte, NC. Plans to restore and keep til my last breath.

Bought 24435885F in October of 2019, after 15 years of looking.
Looking back at this post, I typed in haste after my recent purchase.
Since the purchase, I've managed to completely rewire the beast, replaced all the fluids and many of the seals, including the head gasket. New tires and powder coated 15" wheels, serviced and rebalanced the driveshaft. It came with the Fairey hubs and O/drive. Somewhere along the line had new front horns and a rear cross member welded... poorly, but they work. Also the engine was replaced by an MOD rebuild, which I discovered was bored 0.40 over! I had good compression when I checked (130PSI +/- 5PSI)this engine, though low oil pressure (20PSI on the highway @ 3,500 RPMS). In 1,200 miles I've used 3.5 quarts of engine oil though very little smoke from the tailpipe and no engine significant engine oil leaks. The 90Wt gear oil, however, is another story. Ugh.

I used wings from a later year that had the recessed headlights as the bugeye wings were pretty banged up. I did keep the front portion of the bugeye wings because I knew it was special.Leave a comment:

Adding mine. 24435907F . My registry shows it as a 1970 year. How do I prove it’s a 1969 ?Leave a comment:

Not a stale thread at all. Just, not many new Bugeye's showing up! Check your chassis ID - looks like an extra digit.
Where you located? Where did you find the truck?Leave a comment:

Regretfully sold 24435439F in about 1987 in Alaska. Wondering if still active and in-state. Had headers and if I remember Rochester carb. Always reliable even in worst winter cold.Leave a comment:

Congrats. Post some pictures when you get the chance. We never tire of seeing pictures of these old rigs.

My name is Cardwell, from Savannah, GA. Just acquired the second Rover I’ve owned. She’s a 1969 limestone Bugeye (VIN: 24435824F). She sat untouched in the original owner’s garage for 27+ years. She was bought new in NC in 1969. Brought her home and had her running like a champ in a couple of days. Body and interior in good shape, chassis not so much.
Looking forward to meeting other Bugeye owners!
Thanks,
CardwellLeave a comment:
